Who Is CJ Cron?

Christopher John Cron Jr. was born in 1990 and is an American professional player. He currently plays as the designated hitter and first baseman for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball.

He has played throughout his career for the Los Angeles Angels as well as the Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins. Cron is best known for his right handed batting and throwing.

Cron graduated from Mountain Pointe High School, Phoenix, Arizona in 2008. The Chicago White Sox selected him in the 44th Round of the 2008 MLB Draft. However, Cron decided to attend college rather than sign with the team.

Cron enrolled in the University of Utah where he was a member of their baseball team, the Utah Utes. Cron received many accolades during his college years.

In 2009, he received the Mountain West Conference’s (MWC) Freshman Award and was named a member of the second-team College Freshman All-American.

He was also named MWC All-Star, MWC Player-of-the-Year, and a member of the third-team College All-Americans. Cron played summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod Baseball League after the 2010 season.

He was named a Baseball America All-American in 2011 for his outstanding performance on-base plus-slugging and slugging percent.
