Calli Newberry Car Accident
Calli Newberry was involved in an accident on Monday morning in Buel Township in Michigan. She is a resident of Sanilac County. Emergency services responded quickly to the accident, which occurred at around 9:30 a.m., including Michigan State Police and Sanilac County Sheriffs. Croswell EMS and Croswell Fire Department also responded.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash: a white Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Calli Newberry, 24, and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by a woman aged 23 from Croswell. Early investigations indicate that Calli may have ignored the stop sign in the intersection. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the accident. Alcohol was confirmed to not have been a factor.
Calli Newberry was driving with her child, who was approximately 3 months old, and the driver, 23 years old, had a child of approximately 1 year in her car. Both children received medical attention for minor injuries.

Her critical condition required an airlift from Sandusky McKenzie Hospital to Hurley Hospital in Flint.

Calli Newberry tragically died on Tuesday, aged 24. She was a beloved local sports reporter and member of the Croswell Community. She was born in Croswell on October 31, 1998 to parents Jodi Townsend and Steve Townsend. She was the oldest of three children. Calli graduated in 2017 from Croswell-Lexington High School, where she was active in the track, cross-country, and girls’ basketball teams.
Those who knew Calli were deeply saddened by the news of her untimely death. Lance Campbell, Cros-Lex’s boys basketball coach, spoke very highly of Calli. He described her as someone that exuded passion, life, and positivity. Her infectious passion for local sports made Calli a beloved member of the community.
